The keynote speaker at South Africa's water and Energy Forum of Professor Jonathan Alan, United Kingdom. Professor Alan was "Stockholm Water Prize laureate" and taught at King College in London, as well as the school of Oriental and African Studies. He was a pioneer in the development of concepts in understanding the issues of water and how it relates to agriculture, climate, economy, politics.

South Africa exports in significant volume of water due to agricultural production, as well as involving manufacturing, steel and other raw materials.

The Conference confirmed that "peak water" was found in South Africa, making the crisis has become a serious problem as opposed to oil, water, a resource can be substituted.

Because of the "water peak" in Egypt last year, revolution ignited in past weeks, there are many analysts said the Forum discussions and warned that more charges for access to safe drinking water may follow the food crisis has seen leading to political turmoil in Egypt.
